Abstract

This study was done to survey the relationship between maximum bite force and facial morphology.
The maximum bite force of 70 adult male, aged 21-28 years, was estimate and frontal and lateral cephalogram were measured and statistically analysed.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1. Maximum bite force were 43.0kg on the right, 42.8kg on the left.
2. The bite force was correlated to the posterior cranial base length, mandibular body length, angle between the ramus and mandibular plane, angle between the mandibular plane and cranial base, angle between the mandibular plane and maxilla, and
maxillary basal alveolar width.
3. It is considered bite force have an effect on facial pattern, especially vertical aspects.
